[B] I’m sure some of you heard of Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin. She probably is most famous for her exhibition Ecce Homo which is based on a series of photographs recreating christian motifs with persons and contexts of the LGBTQ-community. My favorite series done by her is called könskrigare or in english: Gender Warriors. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Do y’all remember Eric Fehrnstrom? Well it turns out that Mr. Etch-a-Sketch isn’t just all bark and no bite when it comes to hating queer people.
Apparently Fehrnstrom was full of “glee” after finding the birth certificate of Althea Garrison shortly after she was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives, effiectivally ending her political career.
Now I could go into how ridiculous it is that being transgender is regarded as such a bad thing that I could basically ruin this woman’s career (it’s something happens all the time to trans people, not just those of us in politics btdubs), but that isn’t the point here. The point here is how low this bigoted asshole would stoop to do this. The fact that he is one of Romney’s “most trusted” advisers would be enough for me to never even consider voting for him, even if I agreed with him on literally anything. You add this on top of Romney’s protest of an anti-discrimination aid for Massachusetts public schools because it contained the word “transgender”, and you have one gigantic transphobic mess.
But, yeah, it’s completely wise to let this bigot run the country.

This is your reminder that private insurance companies often refuse trans* people not only medically necessary transition care (which is seen by the insurance companies as “cosmetic” even though the medical community agrees it’s medically necessary), but also care which even the insurance companies consider medically necessary, on the grounds that transition is causing whatever the problem is and if you’d just stop transitioning, everything would be okay.
This is also your reminder that we have a feminist to thank for that.

We have heard from within that this is no longer a safe place to refer trans* individuals. We will no longer be referring individuals here, and ask that you do the same for the safety of all parties interested.
We also strongly suggest that individuals donate their time, money, and effort to other organizations throughout Chicago that support queer and trans* youth of color.
It is always difficult for this to happen in the nonprofit community, however, we must be honest and open with the information given to us.

CeCe McDonald took a plea deal. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Google it. 2nd Degree Manslaughter with a recommended 41-month sentence. The judge told her that she “unlawfully endangered” her attacker. You better believe that anyone who slashes my face with a bottle is going to get “unlawfully endangered.” I’m so tired of queer and trans* people (especially queer/trans* people of color) being punished for defending themselves.
